Celery juice is truly a miracle food, capable of reversing and healing disease, and provides a foundation for healing every single system in the body. Celery contains subgroups of sodium called ‘cluster salts’ or ‘mineral salts’ and is rich in both enzymes and coenzymes that support the body in many ways.

When we drink celery juice, it begins to restore the gastric glands in the stomach which, over time, restores the body’s ability to produce the correct type and amount of hydrochloric acid (HCI), thus helping to cure acid reflux, rid the intestines of parasites, and resolve other problems due to low HCl. 

As the celery juice moves down the digestive tract from the stomach, it comes in contact with bacteria and/or viruses often found within the small intestinal tract. When the mineral salts found in the celery juice come into contact with the bacteria and viruses, it strips their membrane, killing any streptococcus, staphylococcus, E. coli, H. pylori, C. diff, chlamydia, and other forms of bacteria, as well as viruses that are often at the root of intestinal problems such as: Crohn's’ disease, food allergies, constipation, celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), ulcerative colitis, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), bloating, and intestinal cramping.

Once the celery juice reaches the ileum at the bottom-end of the small intestine, it helps the body produce B12. The celery then enters into the colon and is absorbed through the intestinal wall, where it travels up the portal vein into the liver. 

The Liver

Once the celery juice reaches the liver, it begins assisting with the process of loosening debris and toxins stored there. While in the liver, the mineral salts in the celery continue to eradicate viruses and bacteria found there. These mineral salts also purge the lymphatic system, keeping lymphocytes strong, which strengthens the immune system and prevents the occurrence of cancer. While in the liver, the cluster salts in celery help improve methylation which enables proper absorption and utilization of hundreds of nutrients, including B12 and zinc.

How to Use Celery Juice

Celery juice is best when we drink 2-4 cups of undiluted juice in the morning, on an empty stomach. Some like to juice the leaves as well as the stalks, however I suggest that you first try out the celery without the bitter tasting leaves. After drinking your celery juice, wait at least 15 minutes before eating anything else. If you can’t make the juice first thing in the morning, any other time of day will still provide tremendous benefit.  

If the liver is very toxic, you may need to begin slowly with just 2-4 oz. in the morning, gradually working up to the full recommended dose of 16 to 32 oz. Another option for those who find it difficult adjusting to the celery juice, is to combine the celery with an apple until your body becomes accustomed to pure celery juice. This is less effective than straight celery juice, so you will want to gradually eliminate the apple over time. If you simply cannot tolerate celery juice, try straight cucumber juice, which is the next best thing. 

If you do not have a juicer, it can be made in a blender with a bit of water (just be sure to chop it well to prevent it from wrapping around the blade). Strain well and drink immediately. 

Use organic celery whenever possible. If you do not have access to organic celery, be sure to wash it especially well prior to juicing. Do not buy bottled celery juice, which has often undergone a process of high-pressured pasteurization (HPP), which kills the beneficial microorganisms in the juice.  

If your goal is to cleanse the body of toxic heavy metals such as mercury, aluminum, lead, copper, cadmium, nickel, and arsenic - juice your celery with ½ cup of fresh cilantro. 

If you want an extra dose of greens as part of your daily diet, try juicing 1 head of celery stalks with an apple, lemon, parsley or cilantro and a bit of fresh mint.

Often we make life more complicated than necessary, or we oversimplify complicated issues. This is particularly true when seeking to resolve health issues. For true healing to occur, we need to embrace a balance between the simple and complex - and celery can teach us how to do this. 

Drinking celery juice daily may seem like an overly easy solution for addressing so many problems.  Some may not take it seriously and others may try to “improve” upon it by adding other ingredients. In truth, pure celery juice has such a complex nutritional makeup that it is best to leave it as is, allowing it to work its magic.
